Hollows Program (2 – 3.5 years)
The "Age of Wonder" "Why? How? When?" If you’re hearing these questions on repeat at home, you know exactly what stage this is! We call this the 'Age of Wonder.'
Answering the Big Questions: Our educators are ready to answer every single question. We help your child make sense of the world, tackling complex ideas like "how does a flower grow?" or "what is a planet?" with patience and excitement.
Navigating Friendships: This is also the time when peers become very important. We guide them as they form their first "real" complex friendships, helping them learn how to play with others, not just alongside them.
The Learning Focus: Preparing for the Future While they are busy playing, we are quietly preparing their bodies and brains for school skills down the track:
Getting Ready to Write: We provide specific activities with small objects to strengthen the tiny muscles in their hands (Fine Motor Skills). This muscle strength is the essential groundwork they need before they can learn to write.
Left or Right Hand? You might see a dominant hand emerging now. However, it is very common for them to keep swapping hands! We focus on strengthening the muscles rather than worrying about hand preference at this stage.
Advanced Language: We don't just talk to the children; we model "extended sentence structures." This helps expand their vocabulary and teaches them how to be active listeners.
Why Fred Hollows? "To my mind, having a care and concern for others is the highest of the human quality."
We named this room after Dr. Fred Hollows, the eye doctor who dedicated his life to restoring sight to people in developing countries and Indigenous communities.
For our room: He is a symbol of vision and care.
For your child: We believe Fred is the ultimate example of selflessness. We want to teach your child that helping others is the most important thing they can do.
