Pirate Adventures
There’s been a swashbuckling buzz in the Hollows room lately as our little learners set sail on a grand pirate adventure! It all began with a spark from home—when one of our Hollows friends shared a keen interest in pirates. That excitement quickly caught on at Robina First, and before long, the whole crew was on board! Pirate hats, treasure maps, cardboard ships, and imaginative play turned our learning space into the high seas.
What we love most about this journey is how it beautifully reflects the heart of what we do: connecting children’s lives at home with their experiences in care. When children bring their interests from home into our space, it builds a strong sense of being and belonging—something we value deeply at Robina First. It’s also a key part of the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), which encourages us to honour children’s identities, cultures, and family life as the foundation for learning.
Through this pirate adventure, children are doing so much more than just playing dress-up. They’re working together to solve problems, share ideas, tell stories, and imagine new worlds. These are the building blocks of lifelong learning—exactly what the National Quality Standard (NQS) encourages through rich, meaningful play experiences
