ANZAC Day
ANZAC Day is commemorated on 25th April. It is one of the most important national commemorative occasions in Australia, marking the anniversary of the first major military action fought by Australian and New Zealand armed forces during World War One.

Our little learners engaged in a heartfelt and hands-on exploration of ANZAC Day, learning about its meaning in a way that was respectful, age-appropriate, and deeply creative.
We began by introducing the red poppy, a symbol of remembrance. The children listened to a short story about the significance of poppies and how they help us remember the soldiers who served. Using paper, paint, and plenty of imagination, the children recreated poppies through art—some with sponge painting, others with collaged petals, all unique and beautiful.
A highlight of the week was our ANZAC biscuit baking session! Little hands helped measure, mix, and roll the oat and golden syrup-filled dough. The smell of biscuits baking filled the centre, and once cooled, everyone enjoyed a special ANZAC afternoon tea. Educators explained the history of ANZAC biscuits and how they were originally sent to soldiers during the war.
We are so proud of how our children engaged with the concept of remembrance through these thoughtful and meaningful activities. Through creativity, storytelling, and sensory play, we helped them begin to understand the importance of honouring those who came before us.
