Vision Screening: Ensuring a Clear Path Ahead

Last week, our Monash children participated in a vision screening session—and they did such a fantastic job! With lots of curiosity (and a few giggles), everyone participated beautifully, and many even got to try on some super cool glasses during the process. These early vision checks are so important, as they help identify any concerns before they start to impact learning and development. Catching vision issues early means we can support children right from the start, ensuring they can fully engage in play, learning, and everyday activities.

Early detection of vision problems is crucial for children's development. According to the NHS, vision screening at age 4 to 5 years aims to detect any problems early so that treatment can be given if needed. This proactive approach helps prevent potential issues from affecting a child's learning and social interactions. Additionally, the American Optometric Association emphasizes the importance of comprehensive functional vision exams before diagnosing children with ADHD or prescribing medication, as undiagnosed vision problems can mimic symptoms of ADHD, such as inattention and hyperactivity.

Thank you to all the families for your support. We’re proud of how confident and cooperative the children were—it made the whole experience positive and fun! By prioritizing early vision screenings, we are taking a significant step in ensuring that our children have the best possible foundation for learning and development.
